The theme song for the inaugural Women’s Premier League, ‘Ye Toh Bas Shuruat Hai,’ has been released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
WPL will begin on March 4, and the theme song was released just in time for the opening ceremony.
The song perfectly captures the spirit of the league. It is a tribute to the Indian women cricketers’ tenacity and the difficulties they overcame to reach their current status. It also encourages female players to persevere.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had previously tweeted a teaser for the title song.
A few days later, Shah posted the title track to his Twitter account.
The BCCI initiative has received a lot of attention on Twitter. Fans appreciated the theme song and expressed the hope that the league would become a huge success.
“League anthem doesn’t mean you have to be doing fancy stuff, but it’s worth listening to lyrics and music better than many out there,” a Twitter user wrote.
“Awesome. We’re so used to the IPL tune that we may need some time to adjust to the new one. However, once we’re tuned in, this WPL anthem will light up the March WPL festival! “Another user added a comment.
The iconic title tune of the IPL became an important part of the tournament’s cultural identity, capturing the spirit of the league. The song is frequently played during matches to energize the audience. The IPL title song has become an essential part of the competition.
The first edition of the IPL, in 2008, saw the debut of the league’s theme song, composed by musician AR Rahman.
The BCCI has also unveiled the WPL 2023 mascot, a tigress named ‘Shakti,’ ahead of the highly anticipated league.
The mascot is seen in the video wearing cricket gear and hitting the ball out of the stadium. The title song, ‘Ye Toh Bas Shuruat Hai,’ is also featured in the video.
“Fast, fierce, and brimming with fire!” She’s ready to light up the field, lekin #YehTohBasShuruatHai! Shakti, our mascot, is the embodiment of the TATA WPL!” Shah wrote, sharing a video of the mascot.
There are five teams in the WPL’s inaugural edition – including Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and UP Warriroz.
The first match of the WPL will be played between Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians on March 4. The tournament can be viewed free on JioCinema and Sports18 – 1 SD and HD, Sports18 Khel, Colors Kannada Cinema, and Colors Tami
