Google has launched the first public Beta of Android 14 to both developers and early adopters, with new features focusing on system navigation, privacy, performance, and user customization.
“Today, we’re releasing the first Beta of Android 14, building around our core themes of privacy, security, performance, developer productivity, and user customisation while continuing to improve the large-screen device experience on tablets, foldable, and more,” Google wrote in a blog post.
Among the new features is a new back arrow under gesture navigation, which will aid improve back gesture understanding and usability while engaging with your app.
The back arrow coordinates with the user’s wallpaper or device theme.
In addition, Android 14 offers a new system share sheet – the page that opens when you tap to share material – which allows developers to add unique app-specific actions to the top of the share menu.
In comparison to Android share sheets, which always sort share targets alphabetically, Google promotes this as a ‘enhanced‘ experience, IANS reported from SanFrancisco.
Furthermore, the business stated that the new share sheet uses additional app indications to determine how the direct share objectives should rank.
Android 14 beta also contains new graphical elements like morphing effects and better language settings, which assign language choices to applications automatically.
