Twitter‘s owner, Elon Musk, has announced that the company will soon begin paying verified creators for ads that appear in their replies.
Only ads served to verified users, however, will be counted.
“X/Twitter will begin paying creators for ads served in their replies in a few weeks.” The first block payment is $5 million. “Please keep in mind that the creator must be verified, and only ads served to verified users count,” he explained.
This comes as Linda Yaccarino prepares to take over the company’s operations as CEO, Reuters reported.
Since being acquired by Tesla CEO Elon Musk in 2022, the company has struggled with advertising revenue. Thousands of employees from all over the world have since been laid off.
Several brands have also withdrawn their advertisements from the platform.
