Moneycontrol, a prominent financial website within the Network 18 group, is gearing up to present the second edition of the Moneycontrol Mutual Fund Summit.
Scheduled for October 11, 2023, in Mumbai, the event is set to commence at 3:50 PM. This marquee summit will feature Ananth Narayan G, a Whole-Time Member of SEBI, as its chief guest.
The summit will bring together industry leaders, CEOs, and fund managers for panel discussions addressing the challenges and opportunities facing the Indian mutual fund industry. The central aspiration is to expand the investor base from approximately 4 crore investors to a staggering 20 crore within the next 5-10 years.
With systematic investment plans (SIPs) attracting over Rs 15,000 crore in monthly inflows for the first time in July this year, the Indian mutual fund industry appears poised for substantial growth. The key question to be explored at the summit is whether the surge in assets under management (AUM) will translate into a robust increase in retail investors.
Moneycontrol’s annual mutual fund conclave serves as a platform for experts to discuss strategies for the industry to evolve, become the preferred choice for savings and investments, and attract a larger investor base. The summit will also tackle the challenge of expanding mutual fund participation beyond major cities.
Despite stringent regulations, cost reductions over the years, and intense competition, the Indian mutual fund industry largely remains concentrated in only four states – Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, and West Bengal – which together account for 61 percent of the industry’s assets. The summit will seek to address how mutual funds can achieve wider geographic reach and become as ubiquitous as bank fixed deposits or postal deposits.
The Moneycontrol Mutual Fund Summit, titled “Path to 20 Crore Investors,” is powered by Axis Mutual Fund and boasts a strategic partnership with Reliance Industries Limited. Additionally, the event is supported by associate partners such as HSBC Mutual Fund, Motilal Oswal Asset Management, 360 ONE Asset, IBM, Baroda BNP Paribas Mutual Fund, and Mirae Asset Mutual Fund.
As new fund houses continue to enter the industry and with more expected in the future, the summit promises to provide valuable insights into the investment landscape in India, featuring discussions with the nation’s financial pioneers.
