Sky Sports in the United Kingdom will also carry Hindi commentary of the ICC Men’s World Cup two semi-finals matches and the final in Ahmedabad, the first time this option has been offered.
The two semis are India vs New Zealand (November 15), South Africa vs. Australia (November 16) and the final match where the opponents are yet to be decided.
According to a report by UK-based Broadcast on www.broadcastnow.co.uk, for the semi-finals, Sky Sports will take the world feed, courtesy of Star Sports, which will be available to view on Sky Sports Cricket and Sky Sports Main Event – with English commentary of the semifinals starting from 8 am. Hindi commentary will then be on Sky Sports Arena at 8.20am UK time.
The Broadcast report stated that Sky commentary will come from Ian Ward, Eoin Morgan and Nasser Hussain for the first semi-final in Mumbai, and then Michael Atherton in Kolkata for the second semifinal. For the final, the Hindi coverage will be on Sky Sports Mix from 8.20 am UK times.
Meanwhile, cricket’s global governing body ICC on November 11 said more than one million fans have attended the cricket World Cup with the event on track to become one of the most attended ICC events in history.
ICC said the momentum was expected to continue with the two semifinals and the final, which promises to be a spectacular climax to the tournament that has already broken multiple viewership and digital records. The continued appeal of the ODI format is evident, with fans continually drawn to the excitement and skill showcased by players throughout the competition.
Speaking on the milestone, ICC Head of Events Chris Tetley, said in a statement, “With over 1 million attendees and record-breaking viewership, the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 has reminded cricket fans around the world of the support and interest in the ODI format that highlights how much world cup cricket is valued.”
