In response to a significant decline in organ donations across India post-pandemic, BIG FM, one of the country’s leading radio networks, has launched its impactful campaign, ‘Bano India Ke Ang Daata’.

According to a press release, this new initiative aims to inspire and drive organ donation registrations across the nation, building on the success of its previous campaigns in Mumbai.

The campaign, which is set to run for six weeks, will be broadcasted on all 58 BIG FM stations across India. Prominent radio jockeys (RJs) including RJ Vrajesh Hirjee from Mumbai, RJ Akriti from Delhi, RJ Sangram from Pune, RJ Nayana from Mangalore, RJ Uday from Goa, and RJ Juhie from Jammu will host the campaign. These RJs have personally pledged to be organ donors, reinforcing their commitment to the cause.

• On-Air Initiatives: The campaign will feature advocacy by RJs, stories from patients and donors, interactive polls, and interviews with celebrities, influencers, doctors, and health experts. Renowned Bollywood playback singer-songwriter Aaman Trikha has created a special song to enhance awareness.
• Partnership with NOTTO: BIG FM has partnered with the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO), under the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. This collaboration will help mobilize RJs to advocate for organ donation registrations and promote donor card applications with the support of NOTTO, regional authorities, and community leaders.
• On-Ground Activities: The campaign will include engaging street plays (Nukkad Natak) and visits to Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and corporate offices to encourage organ donation.

Sunil Kumaran, COO of BIG FM, stated, “Following the tremendous success of our earlier campaigns in Mumbai, we are thrilled to take ‘Bano India Ke Ang Daata’ nationwide. Our goal is to create a positive impact and increase organ donation registrations, promoting a culture of empathy and support across the country.”

In addition to on-air and on-ground activities, BIG FM will run an awareness drive at Mumbai metro stations using hoardings. The previous editions of the campaign have seen significant success, facilitated by support from renowned celebrities like Shankar Mahadevan, Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia D’Souza, Nandita Das, and Farah Khan, along with the Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre (ZTCC).
