Sony Pictures channels return to Tata Play’s DTH packages

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) channels have returned to Tata Play’s direct-to-home (DTH) packages following the resolution of a recent dispute between the two companies, The Economic Times reported.

Tata Play had begun removing SPNI channels on August 1, citing a drop in market share for Sony Entertainment Television (SET). However, after amicable discussions, the channels are now back in all Tata Play packages.

Prior to the disagreement, SPNI’s Hindi channel package reached over 50 percent of Tata Play’s 20 million subscribers. Both companies have expressed satisfaction with the outcome, and customers can adjust their packages as per their preferences.

The pay-TV industry is facing challenges with customer churn and falling average revenue per user (ARPU), impacting both cable and DTH services across India.
