The third edition of News18’s Green Ribbon Champions concluded on September 25, 2024, celebrating individuals and organizations making remarkable contributions to environmental sustainability in India. Launched in 2023, this initiative recognizes key players in the country’s drive toward a greener, more sustainable future.

This year’s event featured discussions on India’s environmental strategy, showcasing the nation’s leadership role in the global South. Experts from various sectors, including Akhilesh Singh (NTPC), Hisham Mundol (Environmental Defense Fund), and Saurabh Kumar (Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet), explored topics such as renewable energy transitions, technological innovations, and green financing. Key speakers like Saurabh Rastogi (REC Limited) and John Mathai (Damodar Valley Corporation) highlighted advancements in renewable energy and the financial strategies to support them, the news network said in a press release.

A special session with Gul Panag offered insights into environmental activism and the role of individual responsibility in driving collective change. Other discussions, led by Ajay Shankar (TERI) and Srestha Banerjee (iFOREST), focused on policy frameworks for achieving India’s climate goals and promoting clean energy adoption.
