Bluesky, backed by Jack Dorsey and positioned as an alternative to Twitter, has achieved a milestone of 2 million users despite being invite-only.

The platform plans to launch a public web interface by the month’s end, enabling non-account holders to access posts easily, IANS reported from SanFrancisco.

The move aims to enhance accessibility, particularly for real-time commentary and breaking news scenarios. Bluesky, marking its one-year anniversary, highlighted its user surge since opening to users in February.

Anticipating a federation launch early next year, Bluesky emphasizes its “billionaire-proof” core feature, emphasizing user freedom and the retention of relationships even if users switch platforms.

The social network has made strides, introducing requested features like push notifications, user lists, advanced preferences, and accessibility improvements.

It’s also actively engaging with journalists and news organizations for self-verification, leveraging its expanding user base encompassing diverse interests like politics, sports, and entertainment.
