Helmed by award-winning director Vinay Waikul ‘The Broken News’ is an adaptation of the popular British series ‘Press’ that was co-produced by the BBC Studios in the UK and got cancelled after one season.
The show’s premise revolves around two rival news networks located in Mumbai: Awaaz Bharati, an independent, ethical news channel, and Josh 24/7 News, which promotes clickbait-based and sensational journalism.
‘The Broken News’ marks Sonali Bendre’s OTT debut.
Commenting on the series, director Vinay Waikul said, “‘The Broken News’ is a series, which is about us as a society, it’s just not about media. The series will make us think and ask some questions to us as a society, as an individual which are very important questions in the construct of the society. This would make us take a pause and think about what we are saying, what we do, how we behave on social media, how we behave in public, and our relationships.”
“You will question what is important and what is not? We as a society need to look at the possibility of certain course corrections in our lives. This series will hopefully make that process a little faster. So this series is important for us as a society and I would request everyone to watch (it) because it will take back something beyond entertainment,” he added.
