In an exclusive interaction at the India TV Chunav Manch, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed strong optimism about the BJP’s prospects in the upcoming state assembly elections.
While refraining from speculating on seat numbers, Chouhan declared that the BJP was poised for its most significant victory ever in the state.
Chouhan’s remarks at the daylong conclave in Bhopal emphasized the profound affection of voters towards the party, suggesting that the BJP‘s popularity is on the rise.
He stated, “Those sitting in Delhi and Bhopal cannot gauge the amount of affection that voters are showing to us. I am fully confident that BJP will score its biggest success this time…BJP hi is baar sarkar banayegi, yeh atal satya hai” (BJP will form the government; this is the only truth).
However, when questioned about the next Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Chouhan deferred to the party leadership, emphasizing the broader mission of making India great and prosperous. He stated, “Our party will decide who will be given which post…The question is not about the post, but about who is given what responsibility. While pursuing the bigger aim of making India great, we do not see which posts we get. Can we become selfish? Should we think only about ourselves? We think about our society, our nation. Our mission (leadership) decides who will do what.”
Chouhan reiterated the party’s focus on the collective mission, saying, “Whatever work the party will give, we will do. We are not self-centered. We are part of a bigger mission.”
The Chief Minister also highlighted the concerns among Congress leaders in Madhya Pradesh as top BJP leaders were fielded as candidates in the assembly elections. He noted that the Congress had become apprehensive, particularly in seats where the BJP had fielded prominent leaders.
On a more personal note, Chouhan expressed his delight at working alongside his old friends within the party. He shared, “I am happy. My old team is back. When I was the state chief of BJP Yuva Morcha, Narendra Singh Tomar was my vice-president, Prahlad Patel was my general secretary, and Kailash Vijayvargiya was my secretary. We are all so happy. We are holding frequent meetings and preparing strategies and plans. It is a unique relationship of brotherly affection and closeness. The entire team is close-knit and working as a collective leadership.”
With Chouhan’s unwavering confidence in the BJP’s success and his party’s emphasis on unity and shared purpose, the upcoming Madhya Pradesh assembly elections promise to be an intriguing and closely watched political event.
