The audio-only chat-based app, Clubhouse has recently crossed 1 million downloads on the Android Play Store. The app was launched on the Google Play Store on Friday, May 21.
The clubhouse was originally launched exclusively for iPhones in March 2020. Since then, the app has crossed 10 million downloads on Apple’s App Store. But now, the app is available for both Android and iOS devices, as users will still need to obtain an invite from an existing user to gain access to the app.
The company had recently announced a public beta program for its Android app in the US before launching the app for all Android users.
But, later the company announced its Android version for their users across the world who can now download the Clubhouse app from the Google Play Store.
The clubhouse is compatible with devices running Android 8.0 or later. The company has also revealed its plan to introduce a new payment feature on its Android app in the coming days.
In the last few months, many social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram have either introduced new plans to launch their versions of the audio-only app.
Twitter launched the ‘Spaces feature’ which is already live in most parts of the world. Facebook is reportedly working on an audio chat-based feature, which could be added to the Messenger app.
Similarly, LinkedIn is also said to be working on the same feature. Instagram has also added a new feature called the ‘Live Rooms’ feature which was launched in March 2021.
