This accomplishment solidifies its position ahead of competitors like Times Now and Republic TV.
According to the data provided by BARC India, CNN-News18 has achieved a remarkable 35.3 percent market share, a significant lead over other prominent news channels. Times Now, with a market share of 23.5 percent , claims the third position, while Republic TV secures the second spot with a 29.6 percent market share. The data spans the period from AVG Week 16 of 2022 to Week 29 of 2023 and considers a total of 8 channels in the analysis.
Focusing on the 15+ target demographic, which holds significant importance for advertisers in media planning, CNN-News18 continues to maintain its dominance by capturing a notable 34.6 percent market share. Once again, Republic TV secures the second spot in this segment with a 30.4 percent share, while Times Now holds a market share of 22.5 percent .
Avinash Kaul, the CEO (Broadcast) of Network18 Group, emphasized the enduring supremacy of CNN-News18. He attributed the channel’s continued success to its strong brand presence and the value it offers to advertisers. Kaul also highlighted that CNN-News18’s consistency in maintaining its leadership position in both the All India 15+ and 2+ target demographics reflects the channel’s unwavering strength.
Kaul further commented on the competition’s attempts to manipulate advertisers through selective data presentation. He indicated that CNN-News18’s performance across various demographic slices speaks volumes about the authenticity of its leadership position.
The digital sphere also witnesses CNN-News18’s supremacy, as it garners an astounding 1.4 billion views on YouTube. This surpasses Times Now, which accumulated 795 million views during the same period (August 2022 to July 2023), according to Socialblade. On Facebook, CNN-News18 outperformed Times Now once again, amassing 787 million views compared to Times Now’s 731 million views, as reported by Crowdtangle for the same time frame.
