Due to pandemic coronavirus the Wimbledon 2020 which was scheduled to take place on 29 June, 2020 has been put off in the interests of public health. The confirmation was made by All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC). Since the second World War the premiere Grand Slam Tennis tournament has been cancelled for the firs time. The tournament is rescheduled to be organized from 28 June to 11 July, 2021.
The official statement released by AELTC said, “It is with great regret that the main board of the All England Club and the committee of management of the championships have today decided that The Championships 2020 will be cancelled due to public health concerns linked to the coronavirus epidemic. The 134th Championships will instead be staged from June 28 to July 11, 2021.
The organisers also added that the ticket will be refunded and will be offered a chance to buy tickets for the same day and court for the Championships 2021. A direct communication will be done with ticket holders.
