Renowned actor David Tennant, acclaimed for his roles in ‘Doctor Who,’ ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,’ and ‘Good Omens,’ is set to take the helm as the host of the upcoming EE BAFTA Film Awards.
This marks Tennant’s first time overseeing the esteemed event, to be held on February 18 at London’s Royal Festival Hall, PTI reported.
Expressing his excitement, Tennant shared, ‘I am delighted to have been asked to host the EE BAFTA Film Awards and help celebrate the very best of this year’s films and the many brilliant people who bring them to life.’
BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip expressed equal delight, stating, ‘We are over the moon that David Tennant will be our host for the 2024 EE BAFTA Film Awards. His warmth, charm, and mischievous wit will make it a must-watch show.’
Tennant succeeds past hosts Richard E. Grant and Rebel Wilson, highlighting BAFTA’s trend of inviting new faces each year. The announcement precedes the unveiling of the BAFTA longlists on Jan 5, followed by final nominations on Jan 18.
The BAFTA Film Awards will be broadcast on BBC One and iPlayer in the U.K., with global audiences in the U.S., Canada, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, and South Africa able to view it on BritBox International.
