As the battle for Delhi intensifies ahead of the upcoming elections, ABP News hosted a compelling edition of ‘Shikhar Sammelan’, bringing together political heavyweights for an insightful discussion on governance, leadership, and the future of the capital.

Held at The Lalit, New Delhi, the event witnessed a fiery exchange of ideas, with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal making a passionate case for his party’s vision.

Speaking at the forum, Kejriwal lashed out at what he called “election-time theatrics” and insisted that his governance model speaks for itself. “Unlike others who resort to personal attacks, my focus is only on progress. We have worked tirelessly to ensure free and quality education, healthcare, and essential services. The people of Delhi must decide if they want this continuity or an uncertain future where these benefits could be taken away,” he asserted. He claimed that a BJP-led government in Delhi would discontinue key welfare schemes, including free electricity, water, mohalla clinics, and free public transport for women.

Kejriwal also accused the Haryana government of polluting Delhi’s water supply and dismissed political distractions, emphasizing his commitment to the capital’s development. “If BJP comes to power, many of these free facilities will be stopped. And if people fall sick due to contaminated water, I will be blamed because I provide free water,” he said, highlighting what he called a systematic effort to derail AAP’s governance model.

In a direct jibe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Kejriwal distanced himself from any potential alliance with the party, saying, “My future is with my wife, with the citizens of this country, with the people of Delhi—not with Rahul Gandhi. The BJP and Congress seem to be echoing the same narrative, but AAP is focused on Delhi’s progress, not political rhetoric.” He positioned himself as a pragmatic leader, stating, “As an engineer first and a politician second, my approach is practical. I don’t indulge in name-calling; I work for the ‘Aam Aadmi’.”

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Marlena, also present at the event, took a firm stance against corruption allegations targeting AAP. “When politicians’ homes are raided, authorities usually find piles of cash, gold bars, and property deeds. But when they raided AAP leaders, they found nothing. The BJP has only one agenda: to harass and malign Arvind Kejriwal while ignoring real governance issues,” she declared. Marlena also raised concerns over Delhi’s deteriorating law and order situation, drawing comparisons to Mumbai’s crime-ridden past. “The city has become a hub of gangster activity, reminiscent of Mumbai in the ‘90s. Our top priority is the safety of Delhi’s citizens,” she added.

AAP leader Manish Sisodia further sharpened the attack on the BJP, accusing the party of using money and muscle power to manipulate elections. “If votes could be bought, then the richest businessman in India would have been Prime Minister. BJP’s tactics involve money, threats, and intimidation. Meanwhile, look at their governance—children in government schools are being fed salt and roti instead of proper midday meals. Journalists who dare to speak against them risk imprisonment,” he alleged.

Former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain, who recently walked out of jail, took the stage to denounce what he called the BJP’s “false narratives.” “My will wasn’t broken in jail, and it won’t break now that I’m free. The aam aadmi of this country must always come first, no matter how much political pressure we face,” he declared.

The Shikhar Sammelan underscored ABP News’ commitment to fostering informed political discourse, offering voters a chance to evaluate their choices ahead of a crucial election. As political battle lines deepen, Kejriwal’s rallying cry for “progress over politics” sets the stage for an intense electoral showdown in the national capital.
