In a significant stride towards taking Indian entertainment to the global stage, Dish TV, in association with UK-based C21Media, hosted the inaugural edition of Content India Summit 2025.

The summit, held earlier this month, served as a vital convergence point for India’s top content creators and international entertainment leaders, all aiming to reshape the country’s content ecosystem with a global vision.

Held as a day-long event, the summit brought together more than 150 influential names from the media and entertainment industry. The event witnessed some of the most prominent personalities share their insights and experiences, including Gaurav Banerjee (MD & CEO, Sony Pictures/Sony Liv), Simon Mirren (Founder, Case Closed), Deepak Dhar (Founder & Group CEO, Banijay Asia), Shoojit Sircar (filmmaker and CEO, Rising Sun Films), Sameer Nair (MD, Applause Entertainment) and Andrew Zein (EVP, Warner Bros. Discovery), among others.

Manoj Dobhal, CEO and Executive Director of Dish TV India, called the summit a pivotal moment in India’s content journey. “Content India isn’t just an event—it’s a movement. We envision building a dynamic ecosystem that connects every part of content creation in India with global markets. With storytelling gaining global attention, this is the moment to scale our creativity and establish India as a content powerhouse,” he said.

The discussions throughout the summit touched on a wide range of topics—from the structural shifts needed in the entertainment sector, to the rise of co-productions, cross-border content partnerships, and scalable digital distribution. With digital-first strategies becoming essential, many industry experts agreed that India’s growing pool of creators, tech innovators, and production talent has the potential to match global standards.

One of the standout moments of the summit came from Simon Mirren, Founder of Case Closed, who stressed the importance of authentic storytelling rooted in local culture. “A lot of creators aim to make content for the West—but that’s not the answer. Success in India lies in telling stories that are meaningful here first,” he said, drawing applause from the audience.

David Jenkinson, Managing Director of C21Media, also emphasized the long-term vision of the initiative. “India’s influence on the global content market is undeniable. The Content India Summit is just the beginning—we’re building a platform where talent, ideas, and business come together to shape the next chapter in entertainment.”

Adding to the summit’s long-term impact, Dish TV announced that a detailed industry report titled “The Future of the Indian Entertainment Business Debate” will be published in the coming weeks. The report will capture key takeaways from the event and provide actionable insights for content creators, producers, and distributors.

With sessions exploring the balance between local storytelling and global reach, monetization models, audience behaviour, and tech-driven distribution, the summit laid a strong foundation for the upcoming Content India 2026.
