To celebrate the transformative role of the Internet, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), in collaboration with MYGOV, is celebrating Bharat Internet Utsav, in which citizens can share videos of up to 2 minutes on how the internet has transformed people’s lives on any of the social media handles with the hashtag #BharatInternetUtsav or upload in drive link, and the same link can be submitted on MYGOV.
Prizes of up to Rs 15,000 will be awarded to the best stories. The contest will be held on MYGOV from July 7, 2023 to August 21, 2023.
The Department of Transportation is working tirelessly to ensure secure, dependable, affordable, and high-quality converged telecommunication services anytime, anywhere for accelerated inclusive socioeconomic development.
Through the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF), the Department of Transportation (DoT) has taken several steps to ensure that citizens have access to affordable and high-quality internet in various parts of the country, particularly in remote and commercially unviable areas.
Various procedural, structural, and legal reforms have resulted in faster rollouts, with over 2.7 lakh 5G sites installed in nine months, nearly one per minute, placing India among the top three 5G ecosystems in the world.
The cost of data has been reduced to nearly Rs.10/GB, making Internet access more affordable.
