Esports World Cup Foundation has announced a comprehensive partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) to amplify the coverage of its innovative multi-genre esports competition.

This collaboration aims to leverage WBD’s extensive global network to bring the excitement of the Esports World Cup to new audiences across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

The partnership will utilize the expertise of Warner Bros. Discovery’s prominent brands, Eurosport and CNN, to ensure extensive coverage of the Esports World Cup. This multi-platform approach will feature esports shows, new social media formats, and a dedicated section on the Eurosport website, ensuring that every major story from the eight-week event is thoroughly covered, the WBD said in a press release.

Mike Rich, Head of Warner Bros. Discovery Sports & Lifestyle International Brand Partnerships, emphasized the synergy between esports and WBD’s goals: “Esports World Cup is a competition where sport meets entertainment, aligning perfectly with Warner Bros. Discovery’s ambition for our streaming services to become the premier sports and entertainment destination for consumers. With the popularity of esports continuing to grow, this partnership provides a unique opportunity to reach new audiences and celebrate its fandom.”

Ralf Reichert, CEO of the Esports World Cup Foundation, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “We are thrilled to partner with Warner Bros. to bring the excitement and drama of the Esports World Cup to a broader global audience. This partnership allows us to leverage their extensive network and expertise across Eurosport, CNN, and other platforms to create amazing content and reach new fans. We’re confident this collaboration will elevate the visibility of the Esports World Cup and reignite passion for competitive gaming worldwide.”

The Esports World Cup, debuting in the summer of 2024, will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It features a cross-game structure, bringing together the world’s top esports teams and athletes to compete for the largest-ever prize pool. Starting on July 3, the eight-week event will see the best esports clubs competing in 22 competitions across 21 top games, culminating in the crowning of the first World Cup Club Champion. The prize pool exceeds $60 million.

Max and discovery+ will offer live streaming of selected sessions from the Esports World Cup. Max is available across France, the Nordics, Iberia, Central, and Eastern Europe, while HBO Max serves Belgium and the Netherlands. discovery+ caters to Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom. These platforms will be the exclusive destinations for live streaming every moment of the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
