The 69th edition of the Filmfare Awards dazzled audiences over the weekend in Gujarat, marking the commencement of Bollywood’s prestigious award season.
The power couple, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, emerged as the stars of the night, clinching the top acting honors for their remarkable performances.
Alia Bhatt, celebrated for her versatile roles, took home the coveted Best Actress award for her portrayal in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,’ PTI reported.
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor’s stellar act in ‘Animal’ earned him the Best Actor award, solidifying his status as one of Bollywood’s leading talents.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’ roared its way to dominance, securing a total of six trophies and asserting its cinematic prowess. Vidhu Vino Chopra’s ‘12th Fail’ also claimed its share of the limelight, bagging some of the most prestigious awards of the evening, including Best Film and Best Director.
In the Critics category, Vikrant Massey’s compelling performance in ‘12th Fail’ earned him the Best Actor award, showcasing the film’s critical acclaim. The Best Actress (Critics) category saw a tie, with Rani Mukherji honored for ‘Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway’ and Shefali Shah lauded for ‘Three Of Us.’
Vicky Kaushal, whose nomination for Best Actor (Critics) for ‘Sam Bahadur’ had stirred anticipation, took home the Best Supporting Actor award for his impactful role in Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki.’
The Lifetime Achievement Award was bestowed upon veteran filmmaker David Dhawan, recognizing his illustrious contribution to the Indian film industry. The Best Debut (Male) award was claimed by Aditya Rawal, who impressed audiences with his role in ‘Faraaz.’ On the female front, Alizeh Agnihotri, the breakout star of ‘Farrey,’ secured the Best Debut (Female) award.
With glitz, glamour, and a celebration of cinematic excellence, the Filmfare Awards 2024 proved to be a night to remember, highlighting the outstanding achievements of the industry’s brightest stars.
