The News9 and Salute Kargil Honours event brought together war veterans, senior armed forces officials, families of Kargil heroes, industry leaders, and defence manufacturers to reflect on the significance of the Kargil conflict and honour the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers.
General Anil Chauhan, the Chief Guest, delivered a moving address, emphasizing the pivotal role of the Kargil War in shaping India’s military strategy. “War is a significant political-military event that can alter a nation’s destiny. The sacrifices of our soldiers must become part of our national folklore, inspiring future generations. The Kargil conflict underscored the need for a robust and responsive defence strategy, and today’s event is a testament to the indomitable spirit of our armed forces,” General Chauhan said. He also noted that the position of CDS was one of the recommendations from the Kargil Review Committee.
In his speech, General Chauhan acknowledged the contributions of war veterans and their families, stressing the importance of learning from past conflicts to enhance future preparedness. “The Kargil War highlighted the necessity of eternal vigilance and joint operations. We must maintain high operational readiness to address future challenges,” he added.
