India’s rapidly growing esports scene is all set to enter prime time as JetSynthesys’ Global e-Cricket Premier League (GEPL) S2 finds a broadcast home on JioStar.
In a significant development for the digital sporting world, the tournament will be aired across JioStar’s linear and OTT platforms—including Star Sports and JioHotstar—from April 27 to May 2, marking the first time an e-Cricket league will be telecast live on national television.
GEPL S2 will deliver 5 to 8 hours of non-stop, high-stakes action daily between 11am and 8pm. With 34 intense matches lined up over six days in Bengaluru, the league aims to blend the immersive appeal of esports with the thrill of traditional sports broadcasting.
The broadcast collaboration is being hailed as a milestone moment for Indian esports, signalling the league’s dramatic evolution from a digital-first format to mainstream television—a shift that mirrors the rapid rise in audience engagement and player participation.
Built on the Real Cricket™ platform, GEPL has seen phenomenal growth since its inaugural edition. Season 1 recorded 200,000 player registrations, but that number has skyrocketed this year to over 910,000—a fivefold increase. Reflecting this growth, the prize pool has also seen a major bump, rising from Rs.2.51 crore last season to Rs.3.05 crore for S2.
Speaking on the development, Rajan Navani, Founder and CEO of JetSynthesys, said, “GEPL is a high-energy league that mirrors the scale and professionalism of traditional sports. Our partnership with JioStar is a milestone; cementing our place on India’s biggest broadcast stage. With this, we’re not only bringing e-Cricket into living rooms across the country, but also giving it the visibility and respect it truly deserves.”
GEPL’s expansion into the broadcast realm is more than just a distribution upgrade—it’s a cultural shift. The league’s linear presence on Star Sports, alongside marquee cricket tournaments, is designed to help cement esports as a serious sporting genre in India’s entertainment hierarchy.
For fans, GEPL S2 promises bigger teams, more nail-biting finishes, and enhanced production value, underlining JetSynthesys’ commitment to redefining the e-cricket experience. With participation soaring and national exposure peaking, GEPL is now positioning itself not just as a gaming property, but as a mainstream entertainment spectacle.
