India’s total broadband subscribers increased from 792.78 million at the end of June-21 to 808.60 million at the end of July- 21 with a monthly growth rate of two percent, according to data collated by TRAI from 455 operators.
Top five service providers constituted 98.77 percent market share of the total broadband subscribers at the end of July-21.
These service providers were Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (446.68 million), Bharti Airtel (201.77 million), Vodafone Idea (123.97 million), BSNL (24.26 million) and Atria Convergence (1.93 million).
As on July 31, 2021, the top five wired broadband service providers were BSNL (5.83 million), Bharti Airtel (3.54 million), Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (3.47 million), Atria Convergence Technologies (1.93 million) and Hathway Cable & Datacom (1.07 million).
The top five wireless broadband service providers were Reliance Jio Infocom Ltd (443.61 million), Bharti Airtel (198.23 million), Vodafone Idea (123.97 million), BSNL (17.89 million) and Tikona Infinet Ltd. (0.31 million).
Total wireless subscribers increased from 1,180.83 million at the end of June-21 to 1,186.84 million at the end of July-21, thereby registering a monthly growth rate of 0.51 percent.
Wireless subscription in urban areas increased from 646.29 million at the end of June-21 to 650.10 million at the end of July-21 and wireless subscription in rural areas also increased from 534.54 million to 536.74 million during the same period.
Monthly growth rates of urban and rural wireless subscription were 0.59 percent and 0.41 percent, respectively.
The private access service providers held 90.09 percent market share of the wireless subscribers, while BSNL and MTNL, the two government-run telcos, had a market share of only 9.91 percent.
Meanwhile, the number of telephone subscribers in India increased from 1,202.57 million at the end of June-21 to 1,209.45 million at the end of July-21, showing a monthly growth rate of 0.57 percent.
Urban telephone subscriptions increased from 666.10 million at the end of June-21 to 670.75 million at the end of July-21 and the rural subscription also increased from 536.47 million to 538.70 million during the same period. The monthly growth rates of urban and rural telephone subscriptions were 0.70 percent and 0.42 percent, respectively, during the month of July-21.
