The security, performance, and reliability startup Cloudflare, which is working to improve the Internet, has released its third annual Year in Review, which examines Internet trends, security trends, and the hottest online services for 2022.
Google topped Facebook, Apple, TikTok, and YouTube as the most popular service in 2022, according to data from Cloudflare (fifth).
The most popular social networking site was Facebook, followed by TikTok. Instagram surpassed Twitter to move up to the third-most-popular social media network in August.
Worldwide Internet traffic increased in November as a result of the FIFA World Cup and Black Friday sales.
Phishing emails from the United States outnumbered those from the following 22 nations combined, while Iran had the greatest Internet outages, with 60 recorded shutdowns making up one-third of all outages tracked by Cloudflare.
“Cloudflare has built one of the world’s largest networks that offer a unique view of Internet traffic and online activity around the world,” said Matthew Prince, co-founder, and CEO of Cloudflare. “The world continues to rely on the Internet, and we are humbled to have been able to do our part to keep the world connected through protests, conflicts, and natural disasters in 2022. It’s a privilege to help build a better, more transparent, and more informed Internet,” he added.
