Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (‘RJIL’) has accomplished its minimum rollout obligations in all 22 Licensed Service Areas (‘LSA’) across various spectrum bands, months ahead of schedule.
The milestone comes as a result of Jio’s strategic focus on the deployment of a diverse range of spectrum bands, coupled with its robust fiber network and cutting-edge technology platforms.
Having secured a distinctive combination of low-band, mid-band, and millimeter-wave (mmWave) spectrum, Jio is poised to redefine the connectivity landscape, ushering in the era of ‘5G Everywhere’ for consumers and enterprises alike. This achievement marks Jio as the leader with the highest spectrum footprint in the industry.
Jio’s most striking feat lies in its acquisition of an impressive 1,000 MHz in the millimeter-wave band (26 GHz) in each of the 22 circles, which empowers the telecom giant to offer an unparalleled range of services, from high-quality streaming to innovative enterprise use cases.
The relentless dedication of Jio’s engineering team has propelled the fastest rollout of a True 5G network on such a massive scale globally. On the occasion of India’s 77th Independence Day, Jio is commemorating “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” by heralding the nationwide deployment of its mmWave-based Jio True-5G business connectivity.
Acknowledging the strategic importance of the mmWave spectrum, augmented by Jio’s True-5G StandAlone deployment, industry experts believe that Jio is uniquely positioned to revolutionize the connectivity landscape. This is particularly evident in its plan to offer a 5G-based business connectivity solution that caters to the needs of millions of enterprises, ranging from small businesses to large corporations.
As Jio continues to transcend conventional boundaries, it is clear that the company’s commitment to innovation and excellence is poised to reshape the connectivity landscape, enabling India to take a significant stride forward in the digital age.
Speaking on the occasion, Akash Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, said, “Honouring our commitment to the Government of India, the Department of Telecommunications and the 1.4 billion Indians towards accelerated roll-out of high-quality 5G services, we are proud to announce that we have taken India to the leadership position globally in speed of roll-out of 5G services. We have of course also completed minimum roll-out obligations for the 5G spectrum allocated to us. Since receiving the 5G spectrum in August last year, our team has been working round the clock to ensure we keep up the pace of 5G roll-out that we had promised to enable pan-India 5G coverage by the end of this year. This is one of the fastest 5G roll-outs of this scale globally and gives India a prominent position on the global 5G map.
The benefits of 5G mmWave include extremely high bandwidth and low latency. This can give enterprises looking to deploy emerging and innovative applications faster speeds and less delay than previous wireless networking technologies. mmWave business solutions will expand the market for leased lines by providing equally dependable fixed-wireless services, thereby digitizing millions of small and medium enterprises with enterprise-grade connectivity and business solutions. This spectrum is capable of providing ultra-high-speed broadband of upto 2 Gbps.”
