Prime Video is stepping boldly into the realm of psychological horror with its much-anticipated series ‘Khauf’, a chilling eight-episode drama that promises spine-tingling suspense, eerie twists, and a layered ensemble cast.

Set against the backdrop of a seemingly ordinary girls’ hostel hiding sinister secrets, ‘Khauf’ premieres on April 18 in India and across 240+ countries and territories worldwide.

According to a press release, ‘Khauf’ lies a cursed hostel room that traps its female occupants in a cycle of terror, each haunted by both personal trauma and a lurking supernatural force. This isn’t just another haunted house story—it’s a slow-burning tale of survival, psychological dread, and emotional reckoning, with each character wrestling both external and internal demons.

Leading the cast is Monika Panwar, who portrays Madhu, a small-town girl seeking a new life in the city, only to stumble into a nightmare that refuses to let her go. Panwar brings raw vulnerability and courage to a character caught between her haunted past and the escalating terror within the hostel.

Veteran actor Rajat Kapoor adds a sinister elegance to the series as an enigmatic doctor. His unnerving calm masks layers of ambiguity, constantly making viewers wonder: is he a healer, a predator, or something far more chilling?

Abhishek Chauhan brings warmth and realism as a grounded young man who becomes Madhu’s closest confidant. He offers her a fragile lifeline to the world outside, but in Khauf, even love and friendship are not safe.

From the haunted corridors emerge a host of powerful female characters: Priyanka Setia’s Rima teeters between fear and resilience as she faces down creeping horrors; Chum Darang’s Svetlana shines with fiery defiance, never backing down even as darkness inches closer; and Riya Shukla’s Komal becomes the beating heart of the hostel, driven by fierce loyalty and unyielding friendship.

Rashmi Zurail Mann as Nikki captures the quiet strength of vulnerability, while Asheema Vardaan as Anu stands tall in the face of not just the supernatural, but societal rot. These are not your typical scream queens—they are layered women with agency, fears, and unexpected courage.

Also part of the powerful ensemble is Shilpa Shukla, playing an empathetic psychologist who listens as much as she challenges, helping the girls make sense of the terror closing in. Geetanjali Kulkarni lends gravitas as a mother, cop, and protector, while Shalini Vatsa’s portrayal of the no-nonsense warden adds a nostalgic edge of realism to the ghostly setup.

Khauf doesn’t just rely on jump scares—it weaves psychological horror with social commentary, touching on themes of trauma, friendship, and womanhood. The ensemble’s strong performances elevate the series beyond genre fare, promising a horror story that lingers long after the screen goes black.

With its thrilling premise, layered characters, and haunting narrative, ‘Khauf’ is all set to redefine Indian horror storytelling on streaming. Don’t look away—this one demands to be watched, and remembered.
