Fans of the acclaimed series ‘Big Little Lies’ can rejoice as Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon have confirmed that a third season is actively in development. In a recent Vanity Fair video, the actresses revealed that they are working hard to bring the beloved HBO show back for another installment.
According to a PTI report, Reese Witherspoon playfully referenced Kidman’s previous excitement over the project, which led to speculation last year when Kidman mentioned the potential return at a golf event. Witherspoon noted that this excitement caused a flurry of calls from their co-stars Shailene Woodley, Zoë Kravitz, and Laura Dern inquiring about their return to Monterey.
Kidman confirmed that they are now making significant progress, stating, “We’re moving fast and furious, and Liane is delivering the book. We’re in good shape.”
Moriarty, who wrote the original novel Big Little Lies, is also an executive producer for the series. While it’s unclear whether Moriarty is working on a new book or another form of written material for the show, her involvement is a promising sign for fans.
Despite the buzz, an HBO spokesperson declined to comment on the matter, and representatives for Kidman, Witherspoon and Moriarty have yet to respond to requests for further details.
Kidman humorously acknowledged the need to stay quiet about ongoing projects, explaining that talking about them can create a false sense of accomplishment. Witherspoon agreed, emphasizing the importance of waiting until production is underway before making any official announcements.
