Lightning International has been appointed to handle the international rollout of GB News as global distributor for the new channel.
GB News is Britain’s News Channel providing news, debate, and opinion 24×7 with internationally-renowned hosts and commentators such as Eamonn Holmes, Nigel Farage, Michelle Dewberry, Neil Oliver, and Alistair Stewart.
Following its UK launch last June on Sky, Freeview, Freesat, Virgin Media and YouView, the channel is expanding to bring its quintessentially British style of news and appointment to view programming to TV and streaming platforms globally, a media statement from Lightning International stated.
Hong Kong and the UK-based Lightning International is a specialist in distributing linear TV channels to worldwide audiences, via numerous free-to-air and pay TV operators and platforms. Lightning already works with numerous channels in various territories globally, including Trace TV, Fix & Foxi, ABC Australia, Liverpool’s LFC TV, Rialto, Pulse, Pet Club TV, and the classic pop music channels Now 70s, 80s and 90s.
CEO of Lightning International, James Ross, said: “We are delighted to be delivering Britain’s newest news channel to international territories, and helping to provide a fresh take on UK news to the world. GB News will make a refreshing addition to news packages anywhere and we at Lightning are looking forward to helping make GB News an essential destination for British news around the world.’’
GB News’ Editorial Director Michael Booker said the channel was already attracting a keen audience outside Britain through its apps and website. “We’ve got a growing community of viewers who email us daily from all over the world, so it’ll be great to be more accessible to them via linear television as well,” he added.
