Manoj Bajpayee’s latest film, ‘The Fable,’ directed by Raam Reddy of Thithi fame, is set to compete at the prestigious SEMINCI Film Festival in Valladolid, Spain. Running from October 18 to 26, the movie is the only Indian entry in the Meeting Point Official Selection Competition.
This section is known for showcasing breakthrough films poised to be revelations of the season, PTI reported.
After premiering at the 74th Berlin Film Festival, The Fable now vies for several awards at SEMINCI, including the Meeting Point Best Feature Award, the Special Jury Award, and the ‘Pilar Miró’ Award for Best New Director. Other films in competition include titles like Blue Sun Palace by Constance Tsang and Caught by the Tides by Jia Zhangke.
Bajpayee, who plays the character of Dev, shared his excitement about the film’s selection, describing the filming process as “miraculous and magical” despite the challenges posed by COVID-19. Set in the Indian Himalayas, the story follows Dev as he uncovers mysteriously burnt trees in his fruit orchards, leading to deeper revelations about himself and his family.
‘The Fable’ boasts a stellar cast, including Deepak Dobriyal, Priyanka Bose, Tillotama Shome, and debutant Hiral Sidhu. Director Raam Reddy expressed his honor at competing alongside internationally renowned filmmakers, adding to the film’s growing accolades following its Berlin premiere.
