Mark Ruffalo is in discussions to join Chris Hemsworth in Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming feature adaptation of Don Winslow’s novella, ‘Crime 101.’
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed this exciting news, marking a potential reunion for the two actors known for their roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Bart Layton, who garnered acclaim for his 2018 heist film ‘American Animals,’ is set to direct the movie. Layton co-wrote the script with Peter Straughan, aiming to bring Winslow’s thrilling story to the big screen.
Chris Hemsworth, who is also in talks to star in the film, will produce alongside his partner Ben Grayson. The film’s production team includes notable names such as Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan from Working Title, Layton and Dimitri Doganis from RAW, as well as Derrin Schlesinger and Shane Salerno. Joely Fether is serving as executive producer for RAW.
‘Crime 101,’ published in 2021, follows detective Lou Lubesnick as he tries to crack a series of jewel heists committed by a criminal who adheres to a meticulous set of rules, dubbed ‘Crime 101.’
Ruffalo’s potential involvement in ‘Crime 101’ adds to his impressive list of upcoming projects, which includes the HBO crime drama series “Task” and Bong Joon Ho’s highly anticipated sci-fi feature “Mickey 17,” where he stars alongside Robert Pattinson. Ruffalo also received an Oscar nomination for his role opposite Emma Stone in Yorgos Lanthimos’ film “Poor Things.”
Hemsworth and Ruffalo previously shared the screen in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films, with Hemsworth portraying Thor and Ruffalo playing Bruce Banner and his alter ego, the Hulk.
