Meta, in a groundbreaking partnership with the International Cricket Council (ICC), has launched an ambitious creator campaign for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.
This extraordinary initiative involves more than 500 creators and aims to offer cricket enthusiasts worldwide unparalleled access to matches, commentary, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content through Meta’s platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Threads.
A standout component of this initiative is the formation of the ‘Super 50’ group of creators. Comprising 50 individuals, these creators will bring their unique perspectives to cover all 48 matches of the tournament in their distinctive styles.
They will enjoy unprecedented access to various facets of the event, including pre-and post-match field access, interactions with commentators and ambassadors, pre-match day ground privileges, and more. These creators are spread across India, ensuring that every match will have a dedicated creator in attendance, providing coverage in their respective cities and languages.
Paras Sharma, Director and Head of Content and Community Partnerships at Meta, India, expressed the significance of cricket, especially the World Cup, in India, and the campaign’s goal to offer fans unparalleled match access while providing creators with a platform to gain national recognition. Sharma stated, “We’re glad to work with ICC on this and to have their support in unlocking the many social and fan experiences on our platforms. At the scale of this campaign, we’re hoping this revolutionizes the way cricket fans engage with the sport.”
Finn Bradshaw, ICC Head of Digital, highlighted the ICC’s commitment to expanding its fan base and praised Meta’s platforms as a means to achieve this goal. Bradshaw said, “It has been great to work with Meta on this project, to find unique and creative ways to bring the sport we all love to even more people across the world. We can’t wait to see the unique perspectives these creators will bring to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and help make it the greatest cricket event ever.”
In addition to the ‘Super 50’ group, numerous other creators will attend matches and share their experiences with their audiences. These content creators will provide insights not only into the matches but also into their cities and the passionate fan communities that exist there. Audiences can expect to find these experiences shared across various platforms, including Reels, WhatsApp Channels, Instagram Broadcast Channels, and Threads.
Cricket enthusiasts can stay updated on the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup by following the hashtags #CWC23 and #MetaSuper50, which promise to deliver a wealth of exciting content and unique perspectives from the ‘Super 50’ creators. This campaign is set to redefine how fans engage with and experience the thrill of cricket on a global scale.
