Manish Chopra, Meta India’s director, and chief of partnerships, is leaving the company after 4.5 years of service.
In a LinkedIn post, Chopra stated, “I am stepping down from my role at Meta and will help with the transition over the next few weeks.”
This comes after the departures of former Meta India CEO Ajit Mohan, public policy chief Rajiv Aggarwal, and WhatsApp India CEO Abhijit Bose.
Chopra joined Facebook India as the director and head of partnerships in 2019.
Full of gratitude, pride, and impact – moving on from Meta
“It’s been 4.5 years of an incredible journey leading Meta Partnerships in India! I am stepping down from my role at Meta and will help with the transition over the next few weeks.”
“My ride began with this amazing opportunity to lead our Partnerships efforts in India, which was emerging as one of Meta’s most important markets in 2019. I am grateful to the company for trusting me with building out our efforts to drive growth & engagement across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. I am super proud of the work the team and I have done to become an ally for creators and businesses around the country. There are so many people who have been so critically influential in guiding my team and I, that I cannot do justice by calling out only a few. #ifykyk and my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you! To my team, it’s been my privilege to know you and learn from you. More power to you, always!”
“The recent months have been trying times for everyone in so many ways. I know this team has shown so much care and has helped each other selflessly. At so many moments in doing one’s very best, I have seen folks embody ‘what would you do, if you were not afraid’, and surpass our wildest dreams. And so for me, I am now looking forward to a new phase in my professional life. I will share more in due course.”
Chopra served as interim leader until January 1, 2023, when Sandhya Devanathan was appointed as chief following the departure of Ajith Mohan.
“I am grateful to the company for entrusting me with building out our efforts to drive growth & engagement across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp,” Chopra wrote on LinkedIn. He thanked his team for “showing so much care and helping each other selflessly.”
He also stated that he is looking forward to the next stage of his professional career. Chopra has previously worked for Microsoft, Little Internet Private Limited, Zovi.com, and Oracle, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Meta announced its second round of layoffs across all of its platforms in April, affecting approximately 10,000 employees. This comes after the company laid off 11,000 employees in November 2022.
