TV9 Network has just hit the accelerator on its automotive coverage with the appointment of seasoned journalist Nand Kumar Nair as the Editor, Automobile. Known for redefining auto and business journalism in India over a dynamic two-decade-long career, Nair’s inclusion signals a bold new direction for the network’s automotive content strategy.

Nair’s journey began humbly as an intern at Prasar Bharti, but it didn’t take long for his passion for automobiles and sharp editorial instincts to place him at the forefront of India’s auto media scene. From anchoring and producing some of India’s longest-running car and bike television shows to conceptualizing innovative brand integrations, Nair has consistently demonstrated a unique flair for blending compelling content with strategic impact, the company said in a press release.

Welcoming him to the team, Raktim Das, Chief Growth Officer of TV9 Network, stated, “We are thrilled to have Nand Kumar Nair on board, bringing with him an extraordinary legacy of media innovation, leadership, and content excellence. His visionary approach and deep industry expertise will be instrumental in accelerating our growth, expanding our reach, and redefining content strategy.”

Nair’s past milestones include creating WION Pitstop, a globally broadcast show that reached audiences in 32 countries, and leading ambitious campaigns like the Tata Motors Endurance Challenge. At Dainik Jagran, he successfully built a 62-member content team and transformed Jagran Hi-Tech into one of the country’s top automotive and tech content platforms, raising the bar for digital auto journalism.

At TV9, he will now spearhead a newly carved-out automobile vertical—designed to drive innovation in storytelling, brand integration, and digital engagement. The vertical will focus on creating a mix of branded content, white-label assets, intellectual properties, and affinity-based digital experiences for viewers and brand partners alike. It’s a step that not only expands the network’s content bandwidth but also deepens its footprint in the ever-evolving auto ecosystem.

Amit Tripathi, Chief Revenue Officer of TV9 Network, said, “Nair brings a rare blend of creative storytelling and business acumen. His ability to deliver ROI-driven activations while engaging audiences at scale makes him a true asset. We’re excited to see the heights our automotive content will reach under his leadership.”

Reacting to his new role, Nand Kumar Nair shared his excitement: “It’s a privilege to join the TV9 Network and lead the charge in building a full-fledged automotive vertical. With the industry itself going through radical changes—from EV transitions to mobility tech—this is the perfect time to bring fresh, immersive content that truly connects with today’s audience. I look forward to collaborating with the team and creating narratives that inform, inspire, and drive conversations.”

As the automotive sector gears up for major shifts—electrification, smart mobility, and tech-driven experiences—TV9’s strategic move to onboard a name like Nair could redefine how auto journalism reaches and resonates with India’s new-age audience.
