Nazara, the renowned general entertainment channel under IN10 Media Network, is set to captivate audiences with its latest show, ‘Dahej Dasi.’
The series unfolds in the fictional village of Madhopur, Rajasthan, shedding light on the poignant tale of Chunari, played by Jahnavi Soni, who grapples with the oppressive tradition of being a dahej dasi.
‘Dahje Dasi’ explores the age-old tradition where a maid becomes a lifelong servant to a Thakur family’s daughter as part of the dowry, devoid of the right to marry or form relationships.
As Chunari, a 19-year-old with dreams of a happy family, fights against this tradition, she faces opposition from the formidable maha sarpanch, Vindhya Devi Gauravat, portrayed by Sayantani Ghosh.
Jahnavi Soni shared her experience, emphasizing the complexity of her character’s emotional layers. Sayantani Ghosh, who plays the negative lead, Vindhya Devi, spoke about the unique emotional depth in her character, tackling the challenge of the Rajasthani dialect. Rajat Verma, essaying the role of Jay Gauravat, Vindhya’s son, highlighted the story’s exploration of challenging cultural norms.
The show promises a compelling drama of tradition versus rebellion, love versus oppression. Rajat Verma expressed enthusiasm for the project, citing the involvement of accomplished makers Ravindra Gautam and Raghuvir Shekhawat.
Nazara believes that ‘Dahej Dasi’ stands out with its blend of entertainment and a powerful social message, promoting resilience and courage in the face of adversity.
The show airs every Monday to Friday at 9:00 pm, starting February 12, 2024, inviting viewers to join this emotional and empowering journey.
