NDTV, a leading Indian media network, has reported a significant 34% increase in revenue for the third quarter of the fiscal year 2024-2025 compared to the same period last year. This growth is attributed to heightened advertising revenue and the success of high-profile events and digital initiatives.
A major highlight of the quarter was the launch of ‘NDTV World,’ a global news platform aimed at serving the diverse diaspora worldwide. The platform offers high-quality news, in-depth analysis, and programming tailored to global audiences, providing an Asian and Indian perspective to international markets. The inauguration of ‘NDTV World’ was marked by the NDTV World Summit, where Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched the platform. The event featured influential figures such as Bhutan’s Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay, former British Prime Minister David Cameron, investor Mark Mobius, and telecom magnate Sunil Bharti Mittal, the news channel said in a press release.
The quarter also included comprehensive coverage of significant events like the Maharashtra and U.S. elections, as well as signature NDTV events such as the NDTV Indian of the Year, NDTV Auto Conclave, Emerging Business Conclave, and Real Estate Conclave. These events attracted top political figures, industry leaders, celebrities, and influencers, reinforcing NDTV’s position in the events and content space.
Additionally, NDTV returned to the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) measurement system after a hiatus of over two and a half years. This move reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening its position in the Indian media landscape by gaining deeper insights into audience behavior to refine content and enhance advertising offerings.
While strategic investments in new intellectual properties, global distribution expansion, and scaling digital and television operations impacted short-term profits, these initiatives are expected to yield significant returns in the future. Sanjay Pugalia, Executive Director and Editor-in-Chief of NDTV, stated, “Q3 was a pivotal quarter for NDTV as we continued to build our global presence with initiatives like the NDTV World Summit and the launch of NDTV World. While short-term profit was impacted by strategic investments, we are confident these efforts will drive substantial growth in the future.”
In recognition of its excellence in journalism and content creation, NDTV received a record-breaking 38 awards in December at the News Television Awards 2024 in New Delhi, the highest in the English and Hindi categories, reaffirming its industry leadership.
