Netflix India has promoted Vibha Chopra to the role of director – Hindi film licensing, marking a significant step in her impressive career in content acquisition and film distribution. Chopra announced her new role in a LinkedIn post, sharing her excitement: “Stoked to share that I am starting my new position as Director – Hindi Film Licensing at Netflix, India.”
Chopra joined Netflix India in September 2022 as Head of Hindi Films Licensing. Her background in content licensing and strategic acquisitions made her a key figure in enhancing Netflix’s Hindi film catalog, catering to the diverse tastes of the Indian market.
Before joining Netflix, Chopra worked in Content Acquisition at Amazon Prime Video India, where she contributed to expanding the platform’s Indian film lineup from April 2021 to September 2022. However, her most notable experience was her extensive 13-year tenure with Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL).
At Zee, Chopra held various roles across marketing, brand solutions, and film distribution. She began as a Brand Manager in 2006, later advancing to Vice President of Brand Solutions & Special Projects for Zee Americas, and eventually becoming Head of Global Syndication and International Film Distribution.
Chopra started her professional journey in May 2003 as a Marketing Manager at TAM Media Research Pvt. Ltd. She later served as Marketing Manager at India TV from January 2005 to January 2006 before her lengthy tenure with ZEEL.
In her new role, Chopra’s expertise is expected to drive Netflix’s growth in Hindi film licensing, helping the platform further strengthen its presence in the competitive Indian streaming market. With her leadership, Netflix aims to secure a diverse slate of Hindi content, catering to both local and global audiences.
