In recognition of the alarming rise in liver-related diseases in India and the pressing need for awareness, News9Live.com, the English news website of TV9 Network, India’s largest news network, launched a proactive Liver Day Campaign on April 19, 2024. Under the tagline, “Be Vigilant, Get Regular Liver Check-Ups, and Prevent Fatty Liver Diseases,” the campaign aimed to educate individuals about the growing epidemic of liver disease and the essential steps required to mitigate its impact.

The liver, being the second largest and a crucial organ in the human body, plays a vital role in detoxification and metabolism regulation. However, liver diseases, particularly non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, have become increasingly prevalent in India, affecting over one-third of the population and often going undetected. In 2015 alone, India accounted for nearly one in every five liver disease-related deaths, underscoring the urgent need for awareness and preventive measures, according to the press release.

The Liver Day Campaign by News9Live.com sought to shed light on lesser-known facts about liver health and advocate for lifestyle changes to promote liver well-being. Through a comprehensive approach encompassing interviews with experts, articles, explainer videos, and interactive resources, News9Live.com aimed to empower readers nationwide with the knowledge necessary for maintaining a healthy liver.

Ajith Kumar, Editor of News9Live.com, emphasized the significance of proactive initiatives like the Liver Day Campaign in fostering better lifestyles and preventive healthcare. He stated, “At News9Live.com, it is our responsibility to educate people about liver health concerns and contribute to fostering awareness for our readers.”

The special coverage on World Liver Day 2024 featured a range of topics, including ways to cleanse the liver, insights from medical experts on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, advice on immunology and liver transplantation, common factors causing liver diseases, signs of liver damage, recommended foods for liver health, and the emerging threat of tobacco on liver health among Gen Z.
