The Smart Cities Mission, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), and Exhibitions India Group are collaborating to organize the 30th Convergence India and 8th Smart Cities India expos (EIG).
The Chief Guest for the opening ceremony will be Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, Ing. Karel Hirman, Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic, and Deepak Bagla, MD & CEO of Invest India will also be present.
As per a press release, the three-day expo is a celebration of India’s rising influence as a global digital powerhouse, as well as a display of the country’s emerging modernization and development landscape.
Convergence India will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2023, mirroring India’s three-decade journey as it emerges as a global powerhouse and a force for good in the world.
Over the years, the expo has become a gathering place for government and industry leaders as they work to build a modern India inspired by the Prime Minister’s landmark initiatives, such as Digital India, Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Start-Up India, the Smart Cities Mission, Swachh Bharat, Jal Jeevan Mission, and other associated missions.
This year’s expo will feature 1,000 participants showcasing cutting-edge innovations from 30 countries, with 50,000 visitors expected. Union and state governments, industry, think tanks, and academia will debate issues relating to India’s digital revolution and overall development to drive better citizen-centric services across our cities during 50 concurrent conference sessions.
Over 200 startups will be featured in an exclusive Startup Hub Pavilion, showcasing innovations from various verticals of emerging technologies. Mentoring sessions from ecosystem pioneers, specially curated conference sessions, Startup Pitch Competitions, Investor & Startup Meets, and the highly popular Smart City & Fintech Innovation Awards will all work to catapult this ecosystem to the next level.
Sharing her views about the expo, Chandrika Behl, Managing Director, of Exhibitions India Group, said, “For years, Convergence India has been leading the digital revolution in India from the forefront. During this journey, we have provided an international platform for the Indian industry to grow, contribute towards nation-building, and emerge as a bright spot in the global arena. As we celebrate 30 glorious years, the expo has become synonymous with ‘Brand India’ while leveraging Industry 4.0 to build a ‘Digital and Smart India.’ Meanwhile, the Smart Cities India expo has emerged as a unique world-class platform that brings together the different components of a smart city and provides an excellent opportunity for the associated sectors to converge and explore new opportunities. We’re confident that by bringing all the stakeholders on the same platform, we can facilitate growth, unlock opportunity, and put the spotlight on everything smart and sustainable.”
