Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday in the 114th edition of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ exhorted Indian creators to participate in the 25 ‘Create in India’ challenges, which is part of media conference WAVES and aimed at promoting talent and creativity.
The Prime Minister emphasized upon the rapidly changing nature of jobs and the growing opportunities in creative sectors such as gaming, filmmaking, etc. and underscored the immense potential of India’s creative talents.
The 25 Challenges under the theme ‘Create in India’ is being held as a run up to the Word Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES), being organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in February 2025 in New Delhi.
According to an official government statement, Prime Minister Modi in his MBK, while highlighting the emerging sectors that are reshaping the job market, stated, “In these changing times, the nature of jobs is changing, and new sectors are emerging such as gaming, animation, Reel making, film making or poster making. If you can perform well in any of these skills… your talent can get a very big platform.”
He further noted the growing scope for bands, community radio enthusiasts and creative professionals. To harness and nurture this potential, the MIB has launched 25 Challenges aimed at promoting talent and creativity across a variety of fields, including music, education and anti-piracy.
The Prime Minister encouraged creators to visit the website wavesindia.org to participate in these challenges. “I specially urge the creators in the country to ensure participation and bring their creativity to the fore,” he said.
On August 22, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw had unveiled the first season of ‘Create in India Challenge’ at an event in the Capital. These challenges align with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of ‘Design in India, Design for the World’ theme, articulated during the 78th Independence Day address, the official statement added.
The first World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit will be held from February 5-9, 2025 aimed at propelling India’s media & entertainment industry and boost the creator economy.
WAVES was earlier proposed as a concurrent event with the India International Film Festival that is annually held in Goa.
