In a landmark initiative, Prasar Bharati’s radio division, Akashvani, unveiled a dedicated FM channel, ‘Kumbhvani,’ aimed at disseminating comprehensive information about the Maha Kumbh 2025. The channel, broadcasting on 103.5 MHz, was inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during his visit to Prayagraj, PTI reported.

Speaking at the event, CM Adityanath hailed Kumbhvani as a transformative effort to connect millions across the nation, including those in the remotest corners, to the essence of the Maha Kumbh. He emphasized that the channel would serve as a vital bridge for individuals unable to attend the grand event, allowing them to immerse themselves in its spiritual and cultural splendor.

“The Maha Kumbh is not merely a religious gathering; it’s a monumental celebration of Sanatan Dharma’s pride, unity, and inclusivity, where distinctions of caste, sect, or gender dissolve in a shared faith,” he remarked.

Kumbhvani, operational from January 10 to February 26, will air daily from 5:55 am to 10:05 pm, providing live coverage of Maha Kumbh events, devotional narratives, and cultural insights. This initiative follows similar efforts during past Kumbh festivals in 2013 and 2019, underscoring Prasar Bharati’s commitment to innovation in media.

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. L Murugan and Prasar Bharati Board Chairman Navneet Sehgal, along with other dignitaries, lauded the FM channel’s role in amplifying the spiritual significance of the event.

CM Adityanath reflected on Akashvani’s pivotal role in preserving and promoting India’s cultural heritage, recalling how he listened to Ramcharitmanas broadcasts as a child. Highlighting Prasar Bharati’s evolution, he noted the public broadcaster’s efforts to adapt to modern media trends while retaining its cultural essence.

Describing the Maha Kumbh as a global confluence of spirituality, CM Adityanath urged people to witness its unifying spirit, where individuals from all walks of life gather in shared faith. “Kumbhvani beautifully captures this essence, reaching even the most distant villages, enabling everyone to partake in this monumental celebration,” he said.

The Chief Minister also emphasized the growing international interest in the Maha Kumbh, with visitors seeking to explore its profound spiritual dimensions. He lauded Kumbhvani for making the event’s message of harmony and inclusivity accessible to global audiences.

Reflecting on the power of media to inspire cultural pride, Adityanath drew parallels with the resurgence in viewership of Doordarshan’s Ramayana during the COVID-19 lockdown. He expressed confidence that Kumbhvani would resonate deeply with listeners, especially the youth, given FM channels’ popularity in India.

The Kumbhvani FM channel, a milestone in Prasar Bharati’s 50-year journey, promises to be a lifeline for devotees and spiritual seekers, ensuring that the Maha Kumbh’s grandeur reaches every home across India.
