The global streaming launch of Tamil action-crime thriller ‘Pathu Thala’, starring the well-known Tamil actor Silambarasan TR, was announced today by Prime Video.
The film, directed by Obeli N. Krishna and produced by Jayantilal Gada and K. E. Gnanavelraja, also stars Gautham Karthik, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Santhosh Pratap.
Pathu Thala will have its world debut in Tamil on April 27 in India and 240 other countries and territories.
Pathu Thala is the most recent addition to the Prime roster. Prime members in India get savings, convenience, and entertainment all in one package for just $1499 a year.
Pathu Thala, an official version of the famous Kannada film Mufit, became not only a box-office success but also received rave reviews for the powerful performances and AR Rahman’s music, which considerably enhanced the tale.
The story revolves around the investigation into the inexplicable disappearance of Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister (Santhosh Pratap), and Shakthivel (Gautham Karthik) is assigned with finding the missing leader and investigating the crime.
When his investigation leads him to the legendary mobster AG Raavanan (Silambarasan TR), he is unable to obtain evidence since AGR is above reproach due to his dominance in the sand-mining industry, which makes him practically untouchable.
Shakthivel resolves to go undercover to solve this case, gradually working his way into AGR’s trusted group. But the horrific facts he uncovers along the way challenge his determination, causing him to rethink everything he believes.
Director Obeli N. Krishna said, “Despite being an adaptation, Pathu Thala is very different from the original. With characters as complex as our protagonists, Silambarasan TR and Gautham Karthik played their parts brilliantly, which made my job as a filmmaker that much easier. While the storyline is engrossing, it’s the characters that keep you hooked till the very end. Just like Ravana, they’re not all bad but have shades of morality, a facet still redeemable which makes them even more captivating to the audience. And I can’t wait for the film to reach even more people, as they enjoy the riveting performances, once it premieres on Prime Video India.”
