Prime Video has officially greenlit the third and final season of the beloved series ‘Good Omens,’ starring Michael Sheen and David Tennant.
This renewal comes as a culmination of the comedic fantasy drama based on the international bestselling novel ‘Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch’ by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, PTI reported.
The final season, soon to commence filming in Scotland, promises to deliver its signature blend of wit and humor. Prime Video announced that it will premiere the season in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.
Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, expressed enthusiasm for the series, praising its cleverness and entertainment value. He emphasized the success of ‘Good Omens’ in making the concept of ‘goodness’ enjoyable and engaging, attributing this achievement to the immense creativity of Gaiman and Pratchett.
Following the narrative through the perspectives of the angel Aziraphale (Sheen) and the demon Crowley (Tennant), the show intricately weaves characters attempting to either hasten or prevent an impending Armageddon.
The first season debuted in May 2019, followed by the second season’s release in July this year, garnering a dedicated fanbase.
Neil Gaiman, co-author of the original novel, expressed satisfaction in concluding the story initially outlined by Pratchett and himself decades ago. Gaiman hinted at the impending challenges faced by Crowley and Aziraphale in a world where Armageddon’s plans take an unexpected turn.
The forthcoming season of ‘Good Omens’ is a collaborative effort between Amazon MGM Studios, BBC Studios Productions, the Blank Corporation, and Narrativia.
As ‘Good Omens’ embarks on its final season, Prime Video prepares to bid farewell to a beloved series that has captivated audiences worldwide with its blend of humor, fantasy, and clever storytelling.
