Prime Video has dropped the trailer for its latest original series, ‘Dupahiya’, promising a laughter-filled journey set in the heartland of India. Produced under the banner of Bombay Film Cartel by Salona Bains Joshi and Shubh Shivdasani, and directed by Sonam Nair, the comedy-drama blends humor, chaos, and small-town charm against the backdrop of the fictional village, Dhadakpur.
With a stellar cast featuring Gajraj Rao, Renuka Shahane, Bhuvan Arora, Sparsh Shrivastava, Shivani Raghuvanshi, and Yashpal Sharma, ‘Dupahiya’ will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in India and over 240 countries and territories worldwide on March 7.
The trailer dives straight into the heart of Dhadakpur dubbed the ‘Belgium of Bihar’ as it prepares to celebrate 25 years of being crime-free. But peace is short-lived when a one-of-a-kind motorbike, meant as a wedding gift, mysteriously vanishes just a week before the big day. What follows is a frantic hunt for the missing dupahiya, leading to chaos, drama, and plenty of laughter, all while the fate of the wedding hangs in the balance.
Veteran actor Gajraj Rao leads the cast as Banwari Jha, a devoted father who’s willing to go to any length for his daughter’s happiness. Reflecting on his role, Rao shared, “Banwari Jha isn’t just a father; he’s a man caught between his logical mind and emotional heart. Dupahiya is full of those everyday quirks we see in small towns, wrapped in humor and warmth. I can’t wait for audiences to enjoy this crazy ride with us.”
Renuka Shahane plays Pushplata, the bold sarpanch of Dhadakpur, adding both authority and comedy to the chaos. “Pushplata is a firecracker—strong, endearing, and fiercely protective of her village. It’s been a joy bringing her to life in this heartwarming series,” Shahane said.
Shivani Raghuvanshi steps into the role of Roshni Jha, the bride whose dream wedding is thrown into turmoil. “Roshni is innocent but resilient. Playing her allowed me to explore a different side of small-town India one full of hope and humor,” Raghuvanshi noted.
Adding more spice to the mix is Sparsh Shrivastava as Bhugol, the eccentric aspiring influencer with big dreams and a unique sense of style. “This was my first time diving into comedy, and Bhugol was the perfect character to take that leap,” Shrivastava shared.
Bhuvan Arora portrays Amavas, a character who lets his silence do the talking. “He’s layered, complex, and the kind of guy who observes more than he speaks. It was a refreshing challenge,” Arora commented.
‘Dupahiya’ is more than a small-town comedy; it’s a story about family, love, and community, wrapped in humor and misadventure. With Dhadakpur as its vibrant backdrop, the series explores the aspirations of simple people and the chaos that ensues when things don’t go as planned.
‘Dupahiya’ premieres on March 7 on Prime Video, bringing audiences a comedy-drama packed with twists, turns, and a whole lot of heart.
