Prime Video has revealed that the critically acclaimed film Girls Will Be Girls will premiere exclusively in India on December 18.
This coming-of-age drama is an Indo-French joint production by Pushing Buttons Studio, Dolce Vita Films, and Crawling Angel Films. It marks the feature film directorial debut of Shuchi Talati, who also co-wrote the film, with Richa Chadha, Claire Chassagne, and Shuchi Talati as producers and Ali Fazal serving as executive producer.
‘Girls Will Be Girls’ is a poignant exploration of adolescence, seen through the female gaze. The story follows Mira, an 18-year-old navigating her rebellious awakening and emotional turmoil while reflecting her mother’s own unfulfilled coming-of-age journey. Featuring newcomers Preeti Panigrahi and Kesav Binoy Kiron in lead roles, the film also stars acclaimed actress Kani Kusruti in a pivotal performance.
The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, earning the prestigious Audience Award in the World Cinema Dramatic Category and a Special Jury Award for Acting. It continued its winning streak with accolades such as:
• Grand Jury Prize at the Indian Film Festival in Los Angeles
• Best Film awards at Jakarta International Festival and Biarritz Film Festival
• Transilvania Trophy for Best Film at Transilvania International Film Festival
• Four awards at the MAMI Film Festival
Additionally, it has been showcased at prestigious festivals like TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival), Cannes, and the Berlin International Film Festival.
