As the highly anticipated global premiere of the Amazon Original Series ‘Poacher’ approaches, the crime thriller has stirred intrigue and excitement with its powerful storyline.
Directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Richie Mehta and featuring Nimisha Sajayan, Roshan Mathew and Dibyendu Bhattacharya, the series promises to be both heart-wrenching and captivating.
As per an Amazon press release, ‘Poacher’ transcends traditional entertainment by shedding light on the grim reality of ivory poaching, inspired by a real-life case in Kerala in 2015.
Amazon Prime Video has launched a hard-hitting marketing campaign, strategically placing life-sized installations across prominent locations in India. From oversized faux elephant tusks in glass boxes in Mumbai to staged elephant crime scenes in Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru, the campaign aims to generate awareness and spark dialogue on wildlife crime.
The installations, featuring in locations such as Mumbai’s Bandstand and Powai, Delhi’s Janakpuri and Saket, and Bengaluru’s Shantiniketan, carry a powerful message: ‘Murder is Murder,’ whether of a human or an animal. ‘Poacher’ stands as a unique crime thriller, offering viewers a glimpse into the world of wildlife crime, specifically focusing on one of the biggest ivory poaching cases in Indian history.
The series, unfolding in Malayalam, Hindi, and English, aims to not only entertain but also provoke thought on urgent issues like wildlife crime.
Based on court documents and testimonials, ‘Poacher’ will showcase the remarkable efforts of Indian forest service officers, NGO workers from the Wildlife Trust of India, police constables, and civilians who risked their lives to investigate the largest ivory poaching ring in Indian history.
Produced by QC Entertainment in association with Alia Bhatt’s Eternal Sunshine Productions, Suitable Pictures, and Poor Man’s Productions, ‘Poacher’ is set to stream in 240 countries and territories, starting February 23, in 35+ Indian and foreign languages.
