Prime Video yesterday released the latest session of ‘Maitri: Female First Collective’.
The show is an effort to help develop a community for women in media and entertainment to come out and discuss their experiences, struggles, and accomplishments, as well as offer their thoughts and suggestions on how to effect good change.
The special session includes iconic female celebrities Asha Parekh and Tanuja, the ‘Jubilee’ team, which includes skilled and popular actors Aditi Rao Hydari and Wamiqa Gabbi, and Executive Producer Dipa De Motwane, as well as Aparna Purohit, Head of India Originals, Prime Video, and moderator Smriti Kiran.
Participants shared deeply personal stories and experiences as they discussed the challenges faced by female professionals in the industry, whether in film, streaming, or television, covering topics such as conscious and unconscious biases, gender stereotyping, safety, sanitation for women, and much more.
The participation of two of the industry’s most brilliant and beloved female performers, Asha Parekh and Tanuja, who have seen the business grow over the years, enhanced the session. From the era when the term ‘superstar’ was often reserved for male actors, to a time and age when women have finally started speaking about the issues that matter to them, the latest Maitrisession was a holistic discussion that brought to the fore issues that concern women of all ages.
Aditi Rao Hydari and Wamiqa Gabbi, who play lead roles in the Amazon Original series ‘Jubilee’, shared their opinions on working in the modern film industry. Dipa De Motwane, the show’s producer, who has been in the profession for a long time, provided a unique viewpoint on how the employment environment for women in cinematography, production, technical areas of filmmaking, and so on has changed over time. She also discussed the chances being made for female talent, both in front of and behind the camera, to grow and establish their worth.
