Prime Video Purohit case adjourned till tomorrow

The Supreme Court while observing that there should be some “screening” of programmes on OTT platforms and asking the government to submit the newly notified digital content norms, adjourned to tomorrow the case of Amazon Prime Video’s India head for Originals Aparna Purohit who had challenged an Allahabad High Court order that rejected her pre-arrest bail plea related to police complaints filed against her, according to Bar and Bench legal website.

At the outset of today’s hearing, Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Purohit,  described the case as “shocking”, stating that publicity seekers around the country were filing such complaints, Bar and Bench reported, adding that one of the judges observed they were of the view that “there should be some screening of such programs. At times they are showing pornography too”.

The government counsel too agreed with the court’s view.
