Prime Video, India’s premier entertainment platform, has released the much-anticipated trailer of its upcoming original movie, ‘The Mehta Boys’.
Directed by the veteran actor Boman Irani, the film marks his directorial debut and is co-written by Academy Award winner Alex Dinelaris. Produced by Boman Irani, Danesh Irani, Vikesh Bhutani, and Shujaat Saudagar under the banner of Irani Movietone LLP in association with Chalkboard Entertainment LLP, the movie is set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video on February 7 in India and over 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The film will be available in Hindi, with dubs in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, along with subtitles in multiple languages.
The Mehta Boys features an ensemble cast led by Boman Irani, Avinash Tiwary, Shreya Chaudhry, and Puja Sarup, who bring to life a deeply emotional narrative centered around the complex and often unspoken relationship between a father and his son.
The trailer gives a poignant glimpse into the strained yet evolving bond between the two protagonists, marked by misunderstandings, unresolved emotions, and heartfelt reconciliation. Combining raw emotions with light-hearted moments, the film navigates the imperfections of familial ties, offering a relatable and introspective viewing experience.
Boman Irani, who wears multiple hats as writer, director, producer, and actor in The Mehta Boys, shared his deep emotional connection with the story, “The relationship between a father and son is one of the most complex and emotionally charged dynamics. This story has stayed with me for years, and I am thrilled to finally share it with audiences worldwide. It explores how time, misunderstandings, and unresolved issues can test even the strongest bonds. I am grateful to the immensely talented cast for bringing these characters to life with such depth and authenticity.”
Portraying Amay, Boman Irani’s on-screen son, Avinash Tiwary described the film as a deeply transformative experience, “Amay is torn between familial loyalty and personal resentment. Circumstances force him to confront long-buried emotions and redefine his relationship with his father. Playing this role was both challenging and fulfilling. I am proud to be part of a film that highlights the beauty and struggles of family relationships in such an authentic way.”
Shreya Chaudhry, who plays Zara, Amay’s girlfriend, highlighted her character’s significance beyond being a love interest, “Zara is a strong, independent woman who encourages Amay to face his unresolved issues rather than suppress them. I loved that she wasn’t just in the background but played a key role in shaping the story. It was an incredible experience working with Boman sir, Avinash, and Puja on a project that so beautifully explores human emotions.”
Puja Sarup, who plays Anu, described her character as the emotional glue holding the family together, “Anu is caught in the crossfire between two stubborn men—her father and brother. She tries to be the voice of reason, stepping into a role of responsibility within the family. Working with this talented cast has been a privilege, and I am excited for global audiences to experience this moving story on Prime Video.”
With its universal themes of family, reconciliation, and emotional healing, ‘The Mehta Boys’ promises to be a deeply engaging and thought-provoking watch. As anticipation builds, the film is set to resonate with audiences across generations, making it a must-watch when it premieres on Prime Video on February 7.
