Prime Video’s ‘Culpa Tuya’ becomes most-watched International original movie ever at launch

Prime Video’s Spanish original young adult movie, ‘Culpa Tuya’, has taken the global streaming platform by storm, becoming the most-watched International Original on Prime Video ever at launch.

The movie, based on Mercedes Ron’s best-selling Culpables book trilogy, premiered on December 27, 2024, in 240 countries and territories. It quickly ranked number 1 on Prime Video in over 170 countries, including Spain, Italy, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and Canada. It also placed in the Top 3 in the U.S. and U.K. and secured a spot in the Top 10 in over 220 countries.

Culpa Tuya’s viewership success is significant, with 90 percent of streams coming from outside Spain, highlighting the movie’s global appeal. This milestone has propelled it to the top of Prime Video’s Top 10 most-watched non-English language International Originals of 2024, based on viewership outside their country of origin. Other successful titles on the list include ‘Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End’ (Spain), ‘Maxton Hall: The World Between Us’ (Germany), and ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ (India).

Spanish-language Originals continue to perform strongly on Prime Video, with ‘Culpa Tuya’ and ‘Apocalypse Z’ making a significant impact internationally. Prime Video’s strategy of investing in diverse, high-quality international programming is paying off, as the platform sees viewership spanning multiple genres, including young adult, K-dramas, and thrillers.

The success of Culpa Tuya has sparked anticipation for more from the ‘Culpables trilogy’, with future releases expected to maintain the momentum.
