Spatial audio & more: Netflix premium features upgraded

Netflix has introduced new features at no additional cost for members who are already on the premium plan or choose to upgrade, or are signing up for the first time.

The new features include spatial audio, making the viewing more immersive, simultaneous watching on four supported devices and allowing downloads on six supported devices.

However, the spatial audio takes the cake on new offerings.

“Now, with Netflix spatial audio, our members with Premium will enjoy the highest quality sound experience available, whether they are watching at home on TV or a computer, or on the go with a phone or tablet,” Netflix said in a post on its website.

Netflix’s premium plan already offers the highest quality viewing experience, with beautiful, crisp, 4K HDR video resolution without ads, the ability to watch and download series and films on four supported devices at a time, and more.

Netflix spatial audio brings an immersive, cinematic sound experience on any device with no additional equipment required — and now it’s available on more than 700 of the streamer’s top watched titles, including ‘Stranger Things’, ‘The Watcher’, ‘Wednesday’, and ‘Knives Out: Glass Onion’.

To see the full list of titles with spatial audio, one has just to type “spatial audio” into the search bar on Netflix.

“We’ll also be adding spatial audio to popular new titles as they’re released, including ‘You’, ‘Your Place or Mine’, ‘Luther: The Fallen Sun’ and ‘Tour de France’.

“This truly magical sound experience is a game changer for the Premium plan viewing experience, and we’re excited to add this capability to other features we already support like 4K, HDR, Dolby Atmos and Netflix Calibrated Mode,” the company exulted.

With people more connected than ever through multiple devices, Netflix said it learned through research that members would like the option to download series and films to watch offline on more devices, particularly as they travel and switch between devices.

That’s why the number of download devices have been increased from four to six for premium members.
